Six Sentence Sunday – Snakes Don’t Talk

Ava looked at Carson with fresh eyes. Claire had once told her the story of Eve eating the forbidden fruit. She said the silliest thing about the account was that a snake told her to eat it.

“Deary,” she laughed, “snakes don’t talk! Eve should of took off runnin’ and screamin’, not negotiatin’ with the critter.”

Hearing her husband reply to Lily with such calmness and charm was the closest Ava would come to hearing a snake talk in her lifetime.

LOL! Love it, Jane. “…was the closest Ava would come to hearing a snake talk in her lifetime.” Perfect zinger to end it with. And the local accent was fantastic. Enough to add atmosphere, but not so much it became a distraction. 🙂 Great six.

Since snakes are my one HUGE phobia, I’m glad they don’t talk! Intriguing excerpt!
