Temperament: Ava is sweet without having to be innocent. She’s playful and although things do get to her at times, she can laugh over anything.

Background: She’s a small town girl and wouldn’t have it any other way. She loved growing up in a city where everyone did not know your name, but could find it out using the five degrees of separation rule. There is room for both feeling as if everyone in the city is bounded together and yet, a pleasant surprise or two could still pop up. Growing up, her family always ate dinner at 6:30 together without fail. Saturday her father took her and her sister somewhere-even if only for an hour-for a chance to bond. Sundays the whole family bounded via picnics, cleaning the house together, a bike ride, and any other wholesome family activity there was to do. She loved her childhood and wouldn’t change a thing. She married Dominic right out of high school at age 18 and she had their daughter at age 19.  She always had bi-sexual tendencies, but did not act on them until after she was married. She became drunk for the first and last time at one of her parties and had a romantic experience with a lady passing through. She told her husband and they have been on the rocks ever since. He considered her a lesbian before she did herself. He started having multiple affairs and becoming both distant and demanding. She only had the one female lover, but he believes she does so constantly and she lets him.

These character profiles are really in-depth! I’ve been meaning to do something this detailed for my next novel. I mean, you’ve got everything from features to turn ons/offs. Great stuff to get to know characters.

Thank you, Novel Girl. I don’t do it as often as I should, but it does really help. Even if some of the information never hits the page, it forces me to really think about who my character is as a person and why. Which keeps them from being superficial & helps me stay true to who they are within the story & make it more believable. Feel free to copy the outline. ^.^

All the authors who rave about doing character profiles before they begin a novel say how they don’t use 90% of the info but it helps THEM know the character, thus allowing them to write a more quirky, unique, realistic character than they could have without it.

      Thanks. :))

Exactly! =) Plus, it also helps with the plot & sub-plots. Really! The more rounded the main & supporting characters are the more they can tribute more to the storyline.

Leave your thoughts on the above, below. ^.^
